What is the problem you are trying to solve? Who does it affect?
I have created a prototype of an app for gamifying the personalised property search to make it more fun, interactive, and efficient. It targets homebuyers, renters, real estate agents and developers. It aims to provide a fun, rewarding and helpful experience for those looking to buy or rent a home which can be an anxiety-provoking and intimidating experience.
What is your idea? How does it fix the problem?
My idea is to create a prototype of a virtual reality based app which allows customers to generate their dream house with custom colour scheme, bedrooms, location (rural or urban), radius and other factors.
It fixes the problem of increasing user engagement to the site.
How do all the pieces fit together? Does your frontend make requests to your backend? Where does your database fit in?
The pieces fit together as a VR app, a page showing how rating a room can reward users for taking part in rating rooms of a selected house, completing challenges on what user thoughts are on houses.
What did you struggle with? How did you overcome it?
I struggled with initially the ideation phase, and features to add to the prototype.
What did you learn? What did you accomplish?
I learnt how to use time management, creativity and problem solving in this project. I accomplished development of a prototype to target customers who need tailored help to support their search for a home by rewarding them and also giving them an interactive experience, and for real estate agents and developers who want to increase user retention, increase interaction, and provide a better overall customer experience for potential buyers and renters on the site.
What are the next steps for your project? How can you improve it?
Add more features - interactive games to reward users, games whereby they may make searches of particular homes with certain characteristics (swimming pool, 3 bedrooms, quiet rural location for example) and gain points for viewing and rating the house and its rooms.
