Guide is an app designed to provide valuable insights and accessible information from disabled individuals in the UK, specifically Blue Badge holders for verification purposes. By leveraging data and focusing on user-centric design, our goal was to create a tool that supports the everyday needs of our users. View Figma Prototype Tech Stack: Next.js (TypeScript), Tailwind CSS, Supabase, ShadCN.
Note: Given the time constraints, we focused on functionality over form, aiming to develop a working prototype that could be refined further with additional time and resources.
Aliah Aziz was the project owner. She spearheaded the creation of Figma screens for the dashboard, laying the groundwork for our user interface. She also strategized marketing efforts and oversaw the design of certification badges, aligning the visual identity and user trust elements for the app.
Mia Smith contributed across multiple design and presentation tasks. She crafted the logo, created slide decks, and developed a consistent presentation template. Her work on business value icons was instrumental in visually communicating the app’s key benefits.
Jiya Singh was responsible for understanding and defining the user experience. She developed user personas, mapped out user journeys, and helped with data collection efforts. Additionally, she collaborated on the project tagline and took charge of marketing and monetization strategies to ensure our app’s viability.
Jonathan Anderson played a pivotal role in bringing the app to life through prototyping and coding. He worked on the form input screens and created a demo video to showcase the app's functionality. Beyond this, he assisted in team formation and contributed to coding tasks that enabled our core features.
While we managed to create a functional prototype, there were aspects we would have refined if time permitted:
We researched the feasibility of Guide as a real-world app, and found that the G-Cloud API could support Guide’s data needs. However, the high costs associated with this API prevented us from using it during development. In a fully-funded scenario, this would be our ideal data source.
In the future, we plan to scale Guide horizontally to support all protected groups, not only disabled individuals. This would include offering insights and resources tailored to users based on characteristics such as race, age, religion, gender reassignment, marital status, sexual orientation, maternity, and sex. Our vision is to create an inclusive platform that addresses the diverse needs of various protected groups.
